A personal exercise programme is a strategy that details the physical exercises you should perform in order to reach your goals, and the amount of time you should spend on each exercise.

Each programme is tailored specifically to the person’s needs and goals. For example, people looking to put on muscle will need a completely different plan from those looking to lose weight.

First off you need to set your goals as you can’t develop an exercise plan that will help you to achieve your goals if you don’t know what they are!

Clearly define what you want to achieve and by when. You wouldn’t get in the car and just drive without having a plan as to where you are going, so why approach your exercise in this way?

An exercise plan acts as a ‘roadmap’ that clearly identifies the steps you need to take to reach your desired destination.
